Dear Colleagues, Distinguished Guests, and Friends,
It is my distinct honor, as President of the SeENS to welcome you to the beautiful city of Nis for the 12th SNSS Annual Meeting.
This year, our congress focuses on a field of relentless innovation and profound importance: Neuro-oncology. We have gathered to dissect the latest breakthroughs in brain and spine tumor surgery, from advanced molecular classifications and awake mapping techniques to the integration of robotics and adjuvant therapies. Our shared goal is to translate these discussions into superior outcomes for our patients throughout South Eastern Europe.
I extend my deepest gratitude to our hosts, the Serbian Neurosurgical Society of Serbia, under the leadership of Prof. Lukas Rasulic for their exceptional efforts in organizing this event. They have chosen a magnificent setting in Nis, a city steeped in history, known as the birthplace of Constantine the Great—a fitting symbol of vision and transformation for a meeting focused on the future of our specialty
This meeting is a powerful testament to the collaborative spirit that defines our region.
To all participants, I encourage you to engage fully in the exchanges ahead. Let us learn from one another, challenge our perspectives, and strengthen the professional bonds that make our community so strong.
Let’s make the CSF (Collaboration, Science and Friendship) flow!
Welcome to an inspiring and productive meeting.
Sincerely,

Prof. Ioan Stefan Florian, MD, PhD
SeENS President, Honorary President of the Meeting
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
This year, we have the extraordinary honor of hosting the 12th Annual Meeting of the SNSS with international participation. Unfortunately, patients with oncological conditions are increasingly prevalent in both surgical and conservative treatments. This issue is global in nature, so the theme of our meeting will be: Neurooncology 2026 – Think Global, Act Local: Challenges and Solutions.
This theme will allow us to present our opinions, exchange experiences with one another, and draw meaningful conclusions together after engaging discussions, which we will later put into practice.
The sessions will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about new technologies and treatment options for oncology patients. It promises to be a challenging yet enriching experience for both seasoned professionals and newcomers in this relentless battle against a devastating disease.
In addition to the professional aspects, it is important to create connections with colleagues from various parts of the world, forge mutual friendships, and share enjoyable experiences—both in our professional endeavors and in building social connections.
The meeting will take place in the beautiful historical city of Niš, at the Radisson Hotel, located right on the shore of the Nišava River, opposite the ancient Fortress, which is a hallmark of our city. This setting will allow participants not only to gain professional insights but also to immerse themselves in the rich history of Niš, a city that has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries.
We warmly invite all interested parties to join us in Niš, from September 10 to 13, 2026.
Respectfully,

Prof. Dr. Vesna Nikolov
President of the Meeting
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the International Academy of Neurosurgical Anatomy (IANA), it is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to the 12th Annual Meeting of the Serbian Neurosurgical Society with International Participation, to be held in the historic city of Niš.
IANA is honoured to collaborate in this important meeting, which addresses one of the most demanding and rapidly evolving domains of our specialty — neuro-oncology. The chosen theme, “Think Global, Act Local: Challenges and Solutions,” resonates deeply with our Academy’s mission: to promote excellence in neurosurgical practice through a profound understanding of anatomy, meticulous technique, and the thoughtful translation of global knowledge into local clinical reality.
In neuro-oncology, where millimetres matter and decisions carry lifelong consequences, anatomy remains the foundation upon which safe innovation is built. Advances in molecular biology, imaging, navigation, functional mapping, and adjuvant therapies must be integrated with precise anatomical knowledge to truly benefit our patients. Meetings such as this provide a vital platform for that integration — bringing together science, experience, and surgical wisdom.
I would like to commend the Serbian Neurosurgical Society, under the leadership of Professor Lukas Rasulic, together with the Organising and Scientific Committees, for assembling an outstanding scientific programme and an impressive international faculty. This meeting clearly reflects the strength of regional and global collaboration that defines modern neurosurgery.
Niš, a city of remarkable history and resilience, offers a fitting setting for intellectual exchange, professional growth, and the forging of lasting friendships. I encourage all participants to engage fully in the discussions, share experiences openly, and take advantage of the collegial spirit that such gatherings uniquely foster.
IANA looks forward to contributing to the success of this meeting and to strengthening our continued collaboration with the Serbian Neurosurgical Society and our international partners.
I wish you a stimulating, productive, and memorable conference.
With warm regards,
Ramesh Nair, MS,DNB,MCh, DNB, FRCSEd, FRCS (S/N)
President
International Academy of Neurosurgical Anatomy (IANA)
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the EANS Young Neurosurgeons Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 12th SNSS Annual Meeting with International Participation: Neurooncology 2026 - Think Global, Act Local: Challenges and Solutions, held in the historic city of Niš.
For me personally, as a neurosurgeon from Serbia, it is both a professional honor and a personal privilege to welcome you to my country and to a city that occupies a unique place in our cultural and historical landscape.
Niš has for centuries stood as one of the great crossroads, where cultures, ideas, and traditions have met and shaped one another. This makes it a particularly fitting setting for a scientific meeting dedicated to neuro-oncology, a field that lies at the intersection of neurosurgery, oncology, neurology, radiology, pathology, and basic science, requiring constant dialogue and collaboration.
The theme of this year’s meeting, “Think Global, Act Local: Challenges and Solutions,” reflects the realities of modern neuro-oncology. Advances in molecular classification, imaging, surgical technologies, and multimodal therapies are transforming our understanding of brain and spine tumors. Yet translating these global advances into effective patient care within local healthcare systems remains one of our greatest challenges.
For young neurosurgeons, such gatherings are particularly important. They provide opportunities to learn from leading experts, to engage with new ideas, to present their research, and to establish international collaborations that will shape their generation as the future of neurosurgery.
Beyond the scientific programme, Niš offers something equally memorable. The city is well known for its warm hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and exceptional cuisine. I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy the local food, experience our regional wines and specialties.
I would like to congratulate the Serbian Neurosurgical Society, under the leadership of Professor Lukas Rasulic, together with the Organising and Scientific Committees, for assembling an outstanding programme and bringing together distinguished colleagues from across the region and the world.
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Niš and to Serbia, and I hope that both the scientific discussions and the spirit of this remarkable city will make this meeting truly memorable.
I wish you an inspiring, productive, and enjoyable conference.
With warm regards,

Milan Lepić, MD, PhD
